The best eight songs to start your lessons.
There is nothing better than inspiring and bewildering songs to have a good kick start with your piano lessons…this is one of the most common requests among our piano students. Reality is, that at the beginning we need an emotional connection with the instrument, and the selection of the pieces should be taken carefully and thoroughly, as we will devote much time and effort with them, so the question is which one will balance out between the level that we are in now and the inspiration as students that we take from them.
Many students have listened to lots and lots of music during their life, and by the time they start their piano practice, they have already a rich and varied musical background from which to take their repertoire…but let’s be honest…we should be realistic in our goals, otherwise, the poor choice in pieces might result in somehow into a frustrating outcome for some people.
There are five pieces that they can provide these two things we look: inspiration and dedication to the instrument.
I strongly suggest the following eight easy songs to start with:
- Fur Elise – Ludwig Van Beethoven
- Etude in E, Tristesse – Frederic Chopin
- Prelude in C – Johann Sebastian Bach
- Claire De Lune – Claude Debussy
- Solfeggietto – Carl Philip Emanuel Bach
- Impromptu Op. 90 No. 2 – Frank Schubert
- Imagine – John Lennon
- Compline d’un Autre ete – Yann Tiersen
As you can see above, the selection of pieces does not have to be related just to Classical music, as we have either the number seven, which is now considered to be a timeless classic and the last one, the most known piece by the movie composer, who has inspired many pianists to play his music after the movie “Amelie“
Now, which one do you like the most?
